Foundation 1 & 2

Children are taught by professional English native speakers.  Classrooms are equipped with a broad array of materials and our programme encourages each child’s natural desire to learn. Children learn to concentrate, self-initiate, problem-solve and organize themselves. Play leads to creativity, coordination and cooperation. The children are encouraged to do projects and go on educational field trips which enhance their learning experience.

Areas of Learning

Practical Life:  The use of practical life materials give the child self-help skills for everyday living. The child is encouraged to be independent and confident. It brings about concentration, co-ordination, self-esteem, social awareness, orderliness and intellectual development.Other materials help to develop the five senses of touch, sight, smell, taste and hearing.

Mathematics:  Maths materials allow the child to become familiar with numbers at an early age. By the end of Foundation Two, children will be able to do simple calculations, recognize basic shapes and patterns.

Language:  Children are taught the sounds of the alphabet (phonics), through the use of the Jolly Phonics Programme. Language is stimulated through oral, listening and speaking learning experiences like show & tell, read alouds at story time and the use of video aids.

Science:  Children are exposed to a variety of topics including body parts, healthy living and growth patterns. HumanitiesChildren are taught about their community and the role of people in their community, continents and the culture and customs of people from different countries.

Art and Craft:  Art and craft projects are a natural extension of class work. Each child's work is recognised as special and unique.

Music and Movement:  Music plays an important part in the life of a young child. Children sing songs and listen to music. Morning nursery rhymes and songs help the children to develop their language, movement and motor skills.
